君子之交淡如水,小人之交甘若醴
人们总以为,长久的关系终于背叛。其实不是。更多时候,它终于过分的亲密,过分的忠诚所带来的轻视,终于完全了解之后,失去的那份敬意。
可普通人怎么对亲近的人保持敬意呢?圣人见人之陋而敬不减,佛观众生之愚而慈不退。普通人不是圣人,也不是佛,只能寄托于说不清的缘,或安心于不完全的了解,又或是不再轻易打开心门。
People suppose that what ends a bond is betrayal. It is not. More often it is tenderness without distance, faithfulness without reserve, and the quiet fading of reverence once nothing remains to wonder at.
How then does one hold reverence for those one is closest to? The saint sees all and respects still. The Buddha understands all and turns none away. The rest of us must trust to graces we cannot summon, make peace with all we do not know of one another, or simply learn to leave certain doors unopened.
